Celebration of Black History. Celebration of My Heritage.

Black History Month. Celebration of my Heritage. I am proud to be a Maroon, descendant of Nanny of the Maroons, first woman in History to force the British to sign a peace treaty in Jamaica. The Maroons in Jamaica originated from the Ashanti warrior Tribe of Ghana, Africa.

Meeting Dr Benjamin Carson

Meeting Dr Benjamin Carson

Actually this is a response to an email i got, but to those of you who are also wondering, I was very lucky to meet Dr Benjamin Carson. I am not rich. I hope to be one day. I am attending school in the US and they invited him to speak at our graduation. Because I had very good grades, (at the time) they invited the Honor students to a ceremony and we got the chance to meet him. The other people I met through school as well because I was on the Student government or Student council and we got the chance to represent the school. I felt very fortunate, blessed and amazed to meet these people, like Dr Carson, I have read his book, Gifted Hands and heard of him all my life and I never would have imagined that I would be able to meet him. When I met him I was so surprized I could not even think of anything intelligent to say. I was star struck. Meeting Dr Carson was a really inspiring event for me, and it just showed be that if you work hard nothing is impossible and it gave me the motivation to keep striving for excellence.
